Although compared with mainland Nova Scotia, there is less snow and ice on Sable Island during winter, frozen `sea slush' sometimes covers the beach. The slush not only hides seabird corpses, but can make travel on the beach tricky. Here ZL's ATV is stuck in a pool of very slippery slush.
