Two Thick-billed Murres Uria lomvia - unoiled, active, and able to fly off - standing on the north beach of Sable Island in June. Although these birds appeared healthy, unlike gulls and terns, seabirds such as murres seldom come ashore on the island unless they are injured, oiled or otherwise in trouble.
