A Common Loon, which compared with the previous specimen, was lightly oiled. However, the bird was emaciated, and its poor condition was likely caused by the contamination. Most loon specimens - both oiled and not oiled - found on Sable Island during the 1993-2002 surveys were sent to the Atlantic Veterinary College for examination (see Daoust et al. 1998).
