A juvenile Northern Gannet, found freshly dead on Sable Island, in early November. Northern Gannets are the largest seabird in the north Atlantic, with a wingspan of 183 cm. Plumage colour and patterns - as well as the formidable bill - can be seen in fresh carcasses found during beach surveys on the island.
