An adult Northern Gannet, found on the beach within a few hours of death, in early November. The dark juvenile plumage progressively whitens with age, and full adult plumage is acquired in three to four years. The adult is snowy white except for black primary feathers and a soft flush of buffy yellow colour on head and neck - the latter is darkest during breeding season.
