Nest and eggs of a Semipalmated Plover in early June. Only small numbers of this species breeds on Sable Island, and during the last few years, sightings of nesting birds have greatly diminished. During fall migration however, roughly 50 to 100 individuals are scattered along the beach in ones and twos, and sometimes as many as ten together. Semipalmated Plovers winter as far south as Patagonia in South America. |
