A breeding pair of Common Terns in the DFO camp colony. Nests, built by both sexes, are on the ground, and quite variable in structure.  Some nests are nothing more than a shallow scrape in the bare sand; others are well-defined "nests" made of vegetation and/or other materials available nearby (e.g. wood chips, clam shell fragments).
