When the 1997 nests were examined on June 23, there was a total of 24 eggs - one nest with one egg, 10 nests with two eggs, and one nest with three eggs - but by July 1, three of the 12 nests were empty, and only 17 eggs remained.

 On July 6 there were 12 live chicks in the nests, with five eggs remaining - several just beginning to hatch. 

When inspected on July 11 the nests contained one egg and 11 live young, and on August 1, although adults were attending eight nests, only five large live young (and one dead large young) could be seen on the nest platforms.
