Tricolored Heron (formerly called "Louisiana Heron"), May 26 1993, at West Ponds. Another was seen spending a few days in the same location in mid-June 1999. This "southern" heron is a more coastal species, breeding along the Gulf Coast, and on the Atlantic coast as far north as Maine.
