A Royal Tern, standing with a Laughing Gull, on Sable Island, October 29th. Tufts (1986) reports four occurrences for mainland Nova Scotia, three of which were associated with heavy gales, including Hurricanes Donna (September 1960), and Gladys (October 1968). This species winters in southern Carolina south through Caribbean to Argentina. |
