Yellow-billed Cuckoo Coccyzus americanus, October 18. During a mid-October storm in 2002, two of these birds arrived. One was missing a few tail feathers and flopped about in the edge of a freshwater pond before flying somewhat unsteadily away. In 2005, more than 10 turned up in the wake of Hurricane Wilma, and many were later found dead.
