Bill of a Northern Fulmar. The fulmar feeds on a wide variety of marine creatures including crustaceans, small squid, marine worms and fish, and also carrion (e.g. floating dead marine mammals, fishing fleet offal and refuse etc). It forages by grabbing items at or just below the surface of the water while swimming, and also by plunging into the water, to depths of 4 m below the surface, and propels itself with feet and half-opened wings. |
