A Russian fish tag found lodged in the throat of a Northern Fulmar, May 2005. The plastic tag (8 x 27 mm) is marked USSR PINRO 03391 VH. PINRO is the Polar Research Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanography, a scientific institution in northern Russia. There’s no way of knowing how long the tag was in the environment before being ingested by the fulmar.
