The corpse of an adult Little Blue Heron Egretta caerulea found near a freshwater pond on July 14 (probably died in June). Since 1987, 18 birds (half of which were in the white plumage of immatures) were seen on Sable during April through October. Of the nine birds were recorded in April-June, four of were found dead. Throughout July 2006, two adults lingered at the west ponds where they were relentlessly harassed by terns. The closest breeding area for this species is in Maine.
