Six Great Blue Herons Ardea herodias – the largest heron in North America – standing on the south beach, November 11. They were not far from the freshwater ponds, and moved back-and-forth between the two areas. Since 1981, 92 birds have been recorded, seen in all months but January, February and July. Most occurred in April-May (37%), and in October-November (41%).
