Two Hudsonian Godwits at the west ponds, September 21. This is one of North America’s largest shorebirds. The nearest nesting areas are at the southern and southwestern edges of Hudson’s Bay. It is a long-distance migrant, and on the southward migration the birds move out to the Atlantic coast and fly non-stop to northern South America. This species has occurred as a transatlantic vagrant to Britain.
