A skua resting on the beach, May 13 1996. This bird was quite approachable. It eventually stood up, took off, circled and flew away. It was recorded as a Great Skua Catharacta skua. However, based on these photos, Ian McLaren suspected this individual might have been a Brown Skua Catharacta antarctica (see McLaren & Lucas 2004).
