The corpse of an adult Sooty Tern Sterna fuscata found in an October beached bird survey. The specimen was in relatively good condition, suggesting that it likely died in Sable region. Nearest colonies to Nova Scotia are in Florida and the Bahamas. Tropical storms can carry them north to the Maritime Provinces. This is one of the most abundant of the world’s seabirds. |
