Skulls of an adult female Pygmy sperm whale (305 cm long) and her male calf (180 cm long), found on the south beach in November 1996. Skin tissues collected from these carcasses were used in a molecular genetics study carried out by Susan Chivers (National Marine Fisheries Service, La Jolla, California) and her colleagues.
