On Sable Island, seaside goldenrod - growing up to 80 cm tall - is found in most vegetation types, and is particularly important in beach grass communities in both sheltered and exposed dune areas. This species is common along the entire coast of Nova Scotia, and its North American range is from Newfoundland to the lower St. Lawrence region, and south to Florida and Texas.
