Pearly everlasting Anaphalis margaritacea (Aster Family - Asteraceae) in early September.  The species name margaritacea means pearly (for its pearly-white flowers).  White woolly hairs cover the whole plant, and the soft pale bluish colour of its leaves are conspicuous amongst grass and heath foliage on Sable Island.  Pearly everlasting is often used in dry floral arrangements.
