Starry false Solomon's seal is a perennial, growing from creeping rootstocks. It is very common on Sable Island, found both in heath areas and in sparse sandy locations. Starry false Solomon's seal is occasional in Nova Scotia, and in North America is found in Newfoundland to Alaska, and south to Virginia and California.
