Stitchwort is common on Sable Island, in pond edge and heath communities, and near buildings. This species, in Nova Scotia, is described as "one of the most common weeds throughout the province" (Zinck 1998). It was introduced from Eurasia, and in North America occurs from Newfoundland to Minnesota, and south to Maryland and Montana, and also in British Columbia.
