An Ipswich Sparrow perched on a branch of driftwood. The sparrows are among the first bird species to return to nest on Sable in the spring. Even though the sparrows’ plumage pattern and colour matches the island’s vegetation in May, Cindy and Susan caught sight of many of them foraging on the dunes amongst the beach grass and bayberry twigs.
