Some males, known as tags `attach' themselves to a family band - sometimes for a few weeks or months, sometimes for many years. A tag male follows the family band - not as part of the band, but always nearby and watchful. Here, the tag stands at the left, on the high ground (at the West Ponds), and the band stallion is standing just below him.
