Example of data collected by the BGS geomagnetic observatory on Sable Island. The upper three curves show the magnitude of the three directional components - horizontal, declination and vertical - of Earth's magnetic field. This data is collected by the fluxgate magnetometer. The fourth curve shows measurements from the proton magnetometer. This graph reflects normal fluctuations in Earth's magnetic field caused by changing solar activity.
