Harbour seal mother and pup. The seal mother's milk has an extremely high fat content - about 10 times more fat than cow's milk. It is moderately high in protein, low in water content, and very low in lactose. The rich milk ensures rapid growth of the pup and minimizes amount of time the female is onshore nurturing her offspring.
