A young grey seal entangled in a scrap of trawl net. In addition to injury and mortality caused by natural predators, seals are vulnerable to marine litter. The curiosity typical of these animals causes them to investigate and manipulate objects that they find in the water. This includes the debris that ends up in the ocean in ever-increasing amounts as a result of human activities. |
