Spring Equinox 2008March 20, 2:48 am local time; 05:48 am GMT
This year, the last days of winter on Sable Island were fierce. The island was in the path of a huge offshore storm, and for two days high winds (gusting to >65 knots) swept over the landscape. However, the winds diminished, and the first day of spring was calm in the morning, becoming breezy again in the afternoon.
It may be grey and wet, but it’s spring and even if there are a few more wintery days (or weeks) ahead of us, most of the winter is behind us.
Best wishes for a peaceful spring and fine weather to all Sable Island friends. Special thanks to everyone who attended and helped organize the Fourth Annual Sable Island Update, in Halifax, March 4th. |
