Messages-in-bottles are occasionally found on Sable Island. During the last decade most notes have been from people aboard cruise ships traveling through waters off eastern Canada. One such note (in a plastic beverage bottle) had been dropped into the sea from the cruise ship Galaxy 160 km off the coast of Nova Scotia on September 9, 2003, and it was found on the island’s south beach 16 days later
