Fall Equinox 2004: September 22, 1:30 pm local time, 4:30 pm GMT Fall Equinox - the date when every place on Earth experiences 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of dark - is the beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. On Sable Island the day was warm (14° C) and windy (northwesterly 15 knots) with clouds billowing across the sky. A flock of Water Pipits fed along the south side of the ponds, two Merlins played an aerial game of tag over the dunes, wind-blown warblers flitted through the low-lying vegetation, and a grounded Kestrel caught a flight back to Halifax. Best wishes for a Happy and Peaceful Fall Equinox from Sable Island to all Green Horse Society members.
