Summer Solstice 2007: June 21, 3:06 pm local time, 6:06 pm GMT
The first day of summer on Sable Island was foggy and wet with intermittent rain, an accumulation of only 5 mm. The wind was southeasterly at about 13 knots, and the maximum temperature was 12°C. Two Swamp Sparrows had turned up the evening before, and during the hour that the spring season gave over to summer, a very waterlogged Red-eyed Vireo was seeking shelter under clumps of droopy beach grass.
The Green Horse Society wishes a Happy Summer Solstice to all who visit this website and appreciate Sable Island.
