| A view of the West Light area, looking across the freshwater ponds. There are two lighthouses on Sable Island, one on the west end (43° 55.9'N, 60° 01.3W), and one on the east end (43°57.5'N, 59° 46.9'W). A lighthouse is an “aid to navigation”, as are lightships, beacons, buoys, and foghorns. The Sable Island lights are managed by the Canadian Coast Guard. | |
