The East Light on Sable Island was also established in 1873, and has been moved and rebuilt several times. The present tower was constructed in 1974. It is an 18 m high white square tower, with red vertical stripes on each of the four sides. The 3.5 amp light – 36 m above sea level and visible for 18 nautical miles - flashes white every 10 seconds.
