Seaside ragwort, also called beach groundsel, is a member of the Aster family (Asteraceae). It is a seashore plant, typically growing above the high-tide zone. In eastern Canada, this species is found from Newfoundland to eastern Quebec, and south to southwest New Brunswick. Ragwort is considered rare in Nova Scotia (see Zinck 1998).
