Gem (our Green Horse horse) and his band appear often in the Green Horse website, and Susan chose to use this real stallion Gem as the model for the fictitious old stallion Gem. Susan previously painted horses for Brave Jack and the Unicorn, a story set in Newfoundland, and used the Newfoundland Pony as the model.
