On September 14 2003, an offshore industry vessel - the M.V. Mariner Sea - carrying materials and equipment for construction of the helicopter refueling facility, anchored off the north side of Sable Island. Most of the load was packed in nine large offshore cargo baskets, and these, as well as foundations and fuel tank, were delivered to the island by a Cougar S-61 helicopter operating for EnCana.
