The helicopter carried the basket of drums to the Station's tank farm. Rather than transporting the old fuel from the decommissioned unit to the mainland for disposal, the fuel - 3800 litres - was added to the Station's supply of diesel. Helicopter fuel is kerosene based, and with additives for lubricity (amongst other things) the Station is able to use the fuel which would otherwise have been waste material.
