While much autumn colour on Sable Island is provided by the late-season blooms and berries, the tapestry of colour is also enhanced by changes in the foliage of many of the island’s plant species. On the west spit where sea spray wets the vegetation, Sandwort growing amongst beach grass, turns from brilliant green to bright yellow.
