Meteorological and aerological data collected on Sable Island are used in both domestic and international aviation. Met observations are used to report actual weather and for aerodrome forecasts.  The aerology program on Sable Island measures the upper winds which are an essential component of aircraft navigation in transatlantic flights.  Such information is shared by the international community, and countries have a responsibility to participate and contribute.
