The instrumentation field for the Automatic Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the Sable Island Station. The AWOS system - used to collect data for generation of aviation forecasts - comprises various technologies for measuring and recording parameters such as sky condition, visibility, precipitation, icing, temperature, humidity, pressure, and wind speed and direction. Station staff measure and record meteorological parameters which are either not measured by AWOS, or are susceptible to large measurement errors.
