The Fischer-Porter precipitation gauge, also in the AWOS field. While the POSS reports only the occurrence of rain, snow and hail (i.e. whether precipitation is happening or not), this gauge measures actual amounts. The ring of metal thingies is an `altar shield' which acts as a baffle to reduce the effects of wind on the collector.
