A mercury barometer, in the office. In 2002 the instrument was removed from the Sable Island Station in order to safely dispose of the mercury.  The primary pressure sensor is now the AWOS electronic barometer. Also in the office, a barograph (an instrument comprised of a pressure sensor and a chart-recorder) indicates how pressure is changing over time. The altimeter display provides pressure in units suitable for use by aviation.
