A Canadian Search and Rescue (SAR) Voyager helicopter parked on the east tip of Sable Island. In addition to providing infrastructure and support services for routine programs, the Sable Island Station also functions as a base of operations during emergency situations, both on-island and offshore. In the last few decades, the station has assisted during incidents involving fishing vessels, freighters, and offshore energy industry aircraft and platforms.
