A replacement blade and engineers were brought to the island by a second helicopter (which landed on a back-up helipad located 1 km away), and station staff assisted with ground transport of the very long and easily-damaged blade between the two helipads. In the meantime, passengers were driven from the station helipad to the back-up helipad, and boarded the second helicopter and resumed their interrupted journey to Halifax.
