The cathode cell must always be charged first to avoid contaminating the ion bridge. Using a syringe reserved for the cathode solution, 2.5 cc is injected into the chamber. The cathode chamber contains a large platinum screen and is connected to the air pump. Then 1.5 cc of solution is injected into the anode chamber. The syringes for the cathode and anode solutions are rinsed with distilled water before storage. |
