| Back to the ozonesonde—after 10 minutes of conditioning, the sensor’s background current is recorded. If it is too high, the electrode chambers are emptied and charged with new solution, and the unit is run for another 10 minutes. The next step is the O3 decay test which measures the sensor’s response to changes in O3 concentrations. If either the background current or the decay test do not meet criteria, the sonde is put aside and the next standby sonde is run through the one-day checkout. The readied sonde is then replaced in its plastic bag to minimize evaporation of electrode solution. | |
