| As the balloon rises, Vaisala MW15 receiving equipment at the Station decodes the radio signal from the ascending sonde, and performs quality control on the data, which is further analysed by PC-based software. The data is then coded into a numeric message for transmission to MSC (Toronto), and then in near real time to NASA and NOAA (Boulder, Colorado) which manages the data for the O3 profiling project. From August 1 to 31, the various sites involved made about 700 observations. These observations were disseminated quickly and used in computer models to direct additional measurements from aircraft | |
