Station technician changes the carousel filters inside a "glove box". The carousel comprised seven filters - one came on line each day - and the filters were changed once a week. The filters (with their collected aerosol particles) were sent to NOAA in Seattle, Washington, for analysis. The atmospheric aerosols study was carried out on Sable Island from 1992 to 2000. On completion of the Sable Island program, the NOAA equipment was sent to South Korea to be used in a study of aerosol coming out of China
