Continuous light absorption photometer. This instrument was used to measure soot as a component of aerosol pollution. Soot ("black carbon") is comprised of fine carbon particles produced by the burning of fossil fuels, and by natural processes such as forest fires. The program ran on Sable Island from 1996 to 2000.
